Easter Sunday Meritus Mass

"The Lord is risen!
He is risen indeed, hallelujah!"
We greet each other with this proclamation
of the resurrection of Christ on this day.
A victory of light over darkness.

We celebrate together with the sacred elements of bread and wine
made available to us by Christ through the Easter mysteries.

Christ, the Lord, is risen again, Alleluia!
Christ has broken every chain, Alleluia!
Hark, the angels shout for joy, Alleluia!
Singing evermore on high, Allelula!
A verse from a song we sung on this Easter Sunday

John 20

Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. So she ran, and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.”
vv 1-2

But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb; and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” Saying this, she turned round and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom do you seek?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Hebrew, “Rab-boni!” (which means Teacher).
vv 11-16

I AM

There is something about the voice where the I AM becomes evident.

It was when the risen Christ spoke, "Mary", that she then recognised him.

Do we hear that very personal Word?
Do we recognise the Word?

Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book...

...but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ,
the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name.

There is much more for us to perceive.
Much more to know in our being.
More in our lives,
in our lives together.
Nativity
No condemnation now I dread;
Jesus, and all in him, is mine!
Alive in him, my living head,
And clothed in righteousness divine,
Bold I approach the eternal throne,
And claim the crown, through Christ my own.

"The Lord is risen!
He is risen indeed, hallelujah!"
