Cosmic Mass

The Cosmic Mass is the heart of our Centre. It is a deeply mystical experience and opens a channel through which we can experience the love and power of Christ. Everyone -- regardless of age, gender, race or creed -- is welcome to participate and receive the sacred elements of bread and wine.

The use of bread and wine in sacred ceremonies by far pre-dates the Christian era. Yet the use of bread and wine found new life, meaning and power in the event of Christ. During the last supper, he likened the bread to his body and the wine to his blood. Through his crucifixion, his divine blood did flow into the earth, transforming it into his body. Ever since, all substances -- but the bread and wine in particular -- are imbued with the spirit of Christ. When we take these elements into ourselves with consciousness and faith in the divine, they contain a power which helps our soul to grow more and more into the likeness of Christ.

The service we celebrate today was written by Rev Mario Schoenmaker (1929-1997), the founder of our movement. He called it the Cosmic Mass because it generates great power and light not only for us but also for the world -- for as we grow, all human souls grow. When we hold the world in our hearts and minds during this service and let our compassion flow out to all human souls, the light and love and power that is created becomes a golden mantle power available to all who need it -- both in spirit and in flesh.

Sometimes the Cosmic Mass is referred to as the Meritus Mass -- this is a more liturgical celebration of the mass by one of our Meriti (spiritual leader of our movement), Rev Antoinette Schoenmaker or Rev Robert John. The Meritus Mass is often celebrated in conjunction with the four major spiritual festivals -- Christmas, Easter, St John's Tide and Michaelmas.

The Agape (Greek, meaning 'love feast') is also a celebration of the sacrament of bread and wine -- a simple, less formal service than the Cosmic Mass.

Spiritual Healing Services

Healing comes from the willingness to identify with the spirit within. This meditative service provides an environment where closer union with spirit can be achieved. Music and singing lift the atmosphere, stimulating the etheric, allowing the soul to come to the surface. The address is a time of teaching which helps each person to focus consciously on the highest and to become attuned to the way spirit works. The sacrament of healing through the laying on of hands and anointing is freely available to everyone. All are welcome to attend Spiritual Healing Services.

WHEN: 8.00pm one Thursday evening each month (usually the third Thursday).
WHERE: Monash Community Inn, 72 Clayton Road, Clayton [Melways 70 D9].
See the calendar for further details.
